DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has worked tirelessly to upgrade its shipping processes in preparation for the busy holiday season.
A ShopMyExchange.com order—from purchase to delivery—currently takes an average of 2.8 days, with 95 percent of orders being shipped from the fulfillment center on the same day the order was placed.
The Exchange hopes to cut down that time even more by shipping from the nearest Exchange store when possible. This Ship-from-Store model is a win-win for the shopper and the organization, as it decreases the distance between shopper and merchandise and streamlines the process for the organization, which reduces cost and generates additional earnings for essential Quality-of-Life programs serving the military community.
“The Exchange is committed to providing the best service to its shoppers year-round,” said Col. Douglas Vallejo, deputy director, Logistics. “We are implementing new processes and practices daily that will continue to add value to shopping online with the Exchange, especially as the holidays approach.”
Of the 122 Exchange main stores, 62 percent are participating in the Ship-from-Store program.
The Department of Defense’s largest retailer has invested nearly $27 million in optimizing its supply chain since 2013, including more than $900,000 in improving product flow through three of the Exchange’s distribution centers: Dan Daniel in Newport News, Va., Waco in Waco, Texas and West Coast in French Camp, Calif.
For CONUS shoppers, ShopMyExchange.com recommends ordering by Dec. 14 for regular ground shipments and Dec. 19 for priority shipments to arrive in time for the holidays.
