Soldiers with the 54th Civil Support Team of the Wisconsin National Guard navigated obstacles while training at the Fort McCoy, Wis., Confidence Course on Oct. 27, 2016.
The Soldiers were preparing for a Best Warrior Competition. The 54th, headquartered in Madison, Wis., is staffed by 22 full-time Army and Air Force National Guard personnel in 14 military specialties.
The team supports local and state authorities at sites of domestic weapons of mass destruction and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents by identifying agents and substances, assessing current and projected consequences, advising on response measures, and assisting with requests for additional military support.
The team also regularly trains at Fort McCoy.
Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin.
The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
