Task Force Spartan and Jordanian military attorneys recently participated in a subject matter expert exchange designed to foster a deeper understanding of how each country approaches complex legal issues such as the rules of engagement, laws of armed conflict and crisis response management.

The bilateral exchange gave a deeper understanding to the American soldiers and the Jordanian soldiers as well.

"The Jordan Armed Forces and its judges are great partners, and both sides came away from this exchange with a better understanding of the uniqueness and similarities of our respective systems,” said Lt. Col. Michael Fish, Task Force Spartan deputy staff judge advocate. “At its heart, the rule of law is universal, and partnerships like the one between the United States and Jordan show us how much we have in common and pave the way for our forces to cooperate in order to combat terrorism and regional threats."

This was one of a series of several similar type of engagements conducted by Task Force Spartan judge advocates with the Jordan Armed Forces.

Task Force Spartan maintains a U.S. military posture in southwest Asia sufficient to strengthen defense relationships, build partner capacity and deter regional aggression.
