FORT CARSON, Colo.— The 4th Infantry Division bade farewell to one outgoing leader and welcomed a new one during a retreat and change of responsibility ceremony May 18, 2020 at the Manhart Field on Fort Carson, Colorado.
Command Sgt. Maj. Timothy "TJ" Holland relinquished responsibility for the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson to Command Sgt. Maj. Adam Nash. Holland served honorably as the senior enlisted adviser of the 4th Inf. Div. for two years.
Holland addressed the audience, mixed with both physical and virtual attendees, by giving thanks to the many people who have supported him as a leader. Among the people he thanked were his children and wife, who have been patient and understanding throughout his service.
“The 4th Infantry Division's reputation is phenomenal,” Holland said. “It has a great culture, and I couldn't imagine a better organization to have been a part of.”
Holland and his family will report this summer to his next assignment as the Command Sergeant Major for XVIII Airborne Corps located on Fort Bragg, NC.
Nash, previously the command sergeant major of Task Force Phantom, III Corps, Ft. Hood, Texas, addressed Maj. Gen. Matthew McFarlane regarding his new assignment.
“Gen. McFarlane, thank you for giving me the humbling opportunity to serve as your command sergeant major in the Army’s best division,” Nash said. “Winning matters, steadfast and loyal!”
