Yuba County, Calif. – The California National Guard’s Counterdrug Task Force (CDTF), supported the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) along with California Fish and Wildlife in a warrant service for a large scale illegal marijuana grow in Yuba County on 29 July. CDTF personnel provided over-watch support just outside the immediate area while deputies entered the site.
Once the scene was secure, CDTF members moved in to survey the location. A camp was discovered which appeared to have been sustaining multiple individuals working at the illegal grow. CTDF personnel assisted in removing 3,752 illegal cannabis plants for destruction. Leslie Carbah, of YCSO’s Crime Analysis and Public Information Office additionally commented that, one individual was cited on location and “the investigation is ongoing into other violations related to environmental and waterway offenses.” She additionally mentioned “we have had three large-scale grows at this same property over the last five years.”
These illegal grow sites are often the cause of damage and destruction of public and private land and wildlife. One of CDTF’s key mission tasks is countering illegal drug operations that pose serious safety and environmental threats to our communities. Law enforcement agencies rely on CDTF support in the eradication of these illegal marijuana operations.
