BAGHDAD - Iraqi airmen proudly stood at attention during colors ceremonies Sept. 30, 2009, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Iraqi air force Air Operations Center at Camp Victory near Baghdad.
The $1.7 million facility will support 85 personnel with an operations floor and multiple support offices and will be overseen by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel from Gulf Region District and the Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq. Iraqi air force Lt. Gen. Anwar Hamad Amen Ahmed spoke to the gathering saying that the Iraqi air force was proud of the relationship with the United States and the support given to the Iraqi air force.
