PORTLAND, Oregon — CDR Brent Banks relieved CDR Curtis Brown as commander, Navy Talent Acquisition Group (NTAG) Portland, during a change of command ceremony held on June 11, 2021 at the World Trade and Conference Center in Portland, Oregon.
During his tour at NTAG Portland, CDR Brown, a native of Montgomery, AL, led over 150 personnel dispersed across five states and encompassing 270,000 square miles. Under his leadership in 2020, NTAG Portland achieved the Bronze Recruiting ‘R’ award, the Retention Excellence award, the Recruiting “O” award, and the Recruiting “E” award.
CDR Bank’s most recent assignment prior to reporting to NTAG Portland was at Special Operations Command Pacific in Oahu, HI, where he managed the global force management and global special operations synchronization programs for all special operations in INDOPACOM.
CDR Banks earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Military Institute in 2004, a Master of Science degree in global leadership from the University of San Diego in 2013 and a Master of Arts degree in defense and strategic studies from the United States Naval War College in 2019.
Navy Talent Acquisition Group Portland consists of a command headquarters, one Talent Acquisition Onboarding Center, two Navy Officer Recruiting stations and 17 Navy Recruiting stations located throughout Northern California, Western Idaho, Oregon, Northern Nevada and Southern Washington. Their goal is the recruitment of high-quality men and women to fill the officer and enlisted ranks in the U.S. Navy.
