Operation Allies Welcome - Operation Allies Refuge

FORT LEE, Va. — The State Department and Non-Governmental Organizations at Fort Lee say they have enough donations to sustain the Afghans and their families for some time, and won't be accepting any more starting Sept. 13, 2021.

The Fort Lee Religious Support Office has been assisting in the collection of donations, along with a host of volunteers, but they will no longer be receiving drive up donations.

"The outpouring of love and support from the Virginia community and around the nation in response to Operation Allies Welcome has been overwhelming," said Chaplain Col. Thomas Allen, senior command chaplain for Fort Lee, who has been working with the NGOs and volunteers to collect and process donations. "Your contributions and donations of love and support have been greatly appreciated and used. Thanks so much for all of your help with this important mission."

The State Department has provided the list below of the Resettlement Agencies that will be helping Afghan evacuees find permanent residence in the United States, Allen stated.

They include: Church World Service, Ethiopian Community Development Council, Episcopal Migration Ministries, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, International Rescue Committee, US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, and United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
