    U.S. Army Garrison - Japan

CAMP ZAMA, Japan (Oct. 15, 2021) – A group of Air Force employees received recognition from U.S. Army Garrison Japan leadership Oct. 14 at Yokota Air Base, Japan, for their assistance to the unit in achieving a notable budget-related task.

Fifteen members of the 374th Contracting Squadron at Yokota, both airmen and Japanese civilian employees, were presented certificates of appreciation and coins for helping USAG Japan exceed its goal of obligating 85 percent of its budget by the end of July 2021—the first time the unit had done so in recent history.

USAG Japan Commander Col. Christopher Tomlinson and Command Sgt. Maj. Justin Turner presented the awards to members of the 374th’s construction and commodities/service teams.

Tomlinson said it was a “very special” opportunity to recognize the employees for their help in supporting USAG Japan’s mission, its community and its budgetary requirements seamlessly during a time of constrained resources.

“We are absolutely coming together and finding efficiencies,” said Tomlinson. “The power of what [the 374th CONS] does and what we are doing together is pretty significant.”

Air Force Lt. Col. Mark Wagner, commander of the 374th CONS, lauded his team and said that because of the amount of work they do with USAG Japan, the Air Force has “a fantastic relationship with the Army.”
