Splish splash all year round! Service members and their families will now have access to the Mainside Pool, which had its grand reopening at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, Oct. 4, 2021. The pool had been closed since 2018 due to damage caused by hurricane Florence. After months of hard work, the pool was able to be patched up. Patrons will also be glad to know that the pool will be open all year for both recreational and lap swimming and beginning early next year the pool will be offering swim lessons to patrons and allowing units to utilize the pool for unit physical training.
“It’s very exciting, it was a long wait and the pool looks great,” said Terri Fisher, aquatics director at MCAS Cherry Point, “We are glad to get the pool back open to serve our Marines and their families!”
