ELLINGTON FIELD JRB, Texas (December 4, 2021) -- Chief Master Sgt. Rose Maxie assumed the duties and responsibilities of the 147th Attack Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant during the 147th ATKW Change of Responsibility ceremony Dec 4, 2021 at Ellington Field JRB, Texas.
The Change of Responsibility ceremony was held in the 147 ATKW hangar and featured the relinquishing of command master sergeant duties and responsibilities from Command Chief Master Sgt. Walter Zelezniak and the assumption to Chief Maxie. After opening remarks from Col. Andrew Camacho, the 147th ATKW Commander, and highlights of Chief Zelezniak’s time as the 147th ATKW Command Chief, Chief Zelezniak addressed the wing one final time and celebrated the new Command Chief Master Sergeant, Chief Maxie.
“We have an amazing culture here and as senior enlisted leaders we are here to make room for you, the Airmen, to have the ideas, to be innovative, to make the mission better and to catapult us into the future. We are here to invest fully in you and make room for you to become the next generation of leaders, by empowering you and encouraging you to make this place better than you found it,” said Chief Maxie. “You are seen, and more importantly you are valued. I am so incredibly honored to be your next command chief and I hope I can be the leader that you deserve.”
Chief Maxie was the Chief Enlisted Manager with the 272nd Engineering and Installation Squadron and was responsible for the development, training and management of over 100 enlisted personnel. As the new Command Chief, Chief Maxie is now the highest enlisted member who represents and serves over 1000 airmen here at the 147th Attack Wing.
“I am very excited to welcome Chief Master Sergeant Rose Maxie to the Command Team and look forward to serving the Airmen of the 147 ATKW alongside her. Command Chief Maxie is an inspiring and compassionate leader, her approach to leadership and mentorship will serve our Airmen well,” said Col. Camacho. “The challenges of our Wing are many, but I know Command Chief Maxie is up to the task!”
The rank of the command chief master sergeant is the highest enlisted position, and was created to inspire and advocate for the morale, welfare and careers of enlisted Airmen. Their primary mission is to take care of enlisted members while ensuring mission objectives are successful. Command chief master sergeants pull from their years of military experience to provide advice and leadership to senior noncommissioned officers and enlisted personnel.
