    Seabees Introduction to the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program.

    CAMP SHIELDS OKINAWA, Japan - U.S. Navy Seabees deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB-3) begin training in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP), led by Gunnery Sergeant Prince Bustos and Religious Program Specialist Second Class Nickolas Falk also assigned to NMCB-3.

    Seabees from NMCB-3 have begun training in martial arts through the MCMAP, which involves hand to hand combat techniques, weapon retention, combat conditioning, warrior case studies, and military oriented tie-ins.

    “In addition to training physical and mental discipline, we’re teaching Seabees character discipline in order to help them understand what it takes to be a well-rounded warrior.” Said Gunnery Sergeant Prince Bustos, lead instructor. “The Seabee’s motto ‘We build, we fight’ has truly inspired me and makes me feel honored to share MCMAP with them.”

    “I think it’s a great opportunity to be a part of MCMAP, it enables Sailors to grow and develop their leadership styles in a unique way, it has taught us many lessons beyond physical combat training, stressing the importance mental resiliency. ” said Construction Mechanic 1st Class Christina Astin, from Santa Rosa, California.

    NMCB-3 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection. The battalion stands ready to support Humanitarian Aid/Disaster Relief and Major Combat Operations throughout the region.
