U.S. Navy Sailors with Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 4 (MSRON-4) from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Virginia, conducted static and dynamic maritime force protection procedures in preparation for deployment, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, May 5, 2022. The exercise was intended to increase the sailors’ ability to gauge maneuvers of small enemy boats and their understanding of the enemy’s thought process.

“This is like their halfway point to check to see if they're at a level they need to be to get their final qualifications,” said Gunner’s Mate Chief Geoffrey Martin, the Alpha Company lead trainer.

Sailors utilized patrol boats and M2A1 machine guns to conduct the training.

MSRON-4’s primary mission is to conduct maritime security across all phases of military operations by providing port and harbor security, and high value assets security inland, on coastal waterways and ashore.

MCAS Cherry Point Navy Boat Docks provide a secluded, protected waterway, offering a good training environment for the sailors.

“Cherry Point’s boat docks provide us a good environment where we can focus on and continue to properly train our sailors,” said Lt. Eric Ma, the range officer in charge.

The mission of the Navy Boat Docks is to provide support to the air station, its bombing targets, and offer a training environment for Naval and Marine Corps units.
