SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 23, 2022) – Navy Medicine Training Support Center (NMTSC) held a change of command and retirement ceremony for Capt. Ann “Annie” Case (Ret.), former commanding officer of NMTSC, at Joint Base San Antonio – Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-FSH).
Capt. Paul Allen took the helm from Case as NMTSC’s commanding officer. The ceremony was presided over by Rear Adm. Cynthia Kuehner, commander of Naval Medical Forces Support Command. Also in attendance was Capt. David Norman (Ret.).
“NMTSC was my first and only choice of where I wanted to be stationed.” said Allen . “It has been an incredibly humbling experience. Capt. Case has done amazing things with this command, and the drive of this team has blown me away. I look forward to leading and growing with the team.”
Allen, a Nurse Corps officer, previously served as the executive officer at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Lemoore and officer in charge at Role II Expeditionary Medical Facility at Camp Lemonnier, Dijbouti, Africa.
“It has been an absolute privilege to lead, guide, and mentor this team,” said Case. “Thank you to NMTSC staff and affiliated partners who put their trust in me to lead this command. Leadership is a privlage, and I never took it for granted. The weight of the command was on my shoulders needing me to perform my very best every day so I could support those members of my team to help shape the future of Navy Medicine. I wish all the best to Capt. Allen and the team.”
During her tour, Case led NMTSC through the COVID-19 Pandemic. During this time, NMTSC continued to push new hospital corpsman to the fleet. In her remarks during the ceremony, Case expressed her gratitude to each department for their hard work and dedication to both the command and the mission.
NMTSC is the Navy component command providing administrative and operational control over Navy staff and students assigned to the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) and other medical programs in the San Antonio area.
