HONOLULU – On Nov. 1, 2022, Joint Task Force-Red Hill continued the final phase of its unpacking operation using pumps to remove remaining fuel from the pipelines connecting the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility to fuel points on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. During operations today, the JTF removed approximately 39,840 gallons of F-24 fuel.
All JP-5 and F-24 fuel has been removed from the pipelines. The JTF will resume F-76 unpacking tomorrow. The Hawaii Department of Health and Environmental Protection Agency will continue to provide oversight of operations. Based on current flow rates, the JTF now expects to complete all unpacking by Nov. 3. We will continue to provide public updates.
The total fuel removed to date for all evolutions is approximately 963,561 gallons.
• JP-5: 215,359 gallons (208,639 gravity + 6,720 low point transfer) – unpacking for this line is complete
• F-24: 161,220 gallons (92,316 gravity + 68,904 low point transfer) – unpacking for this line is complete
• F-76: 589,982 gallons (586,982 gravity) – unpacking this line is not complete; will begin low point transfer tomorrow
