HOHENFELS, Germany – 3rd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division participates in exercise Combined Resolve 25-1, conducted to strengthen the U.S. Army, NATO allies, and partner nations at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels Training Area from Jan. 17 to Feb 15, 2025.
Exercise Combined Resolve 25-1 will help advance NATO’s regional plans by strengthening multinational interoperability, validating combined capabilities, and integrating lessons learned from modern conflicts. U.S., NATO, and partner forces remain adaptable and ready to deter and defend against any threat.
“The battlefield is rapidly evolving,” said 3/10 MTN commander, Col. Joshua Glonek. “...[as] a Transformation in Contact unit, we are here at JMRC testing a number of new capabilities that the Army is looking to rapidly implement into our force.”
CbR 25-1 sharpens the alignment between U.S. and other Allied forces by testing and validating joint tactics, technologies, and command structures in a realistic, multinational training environment. It also directly supports NATO regional security strategies.
One of the areas of focus outlined by Col. Glonek is the rising use of drones or Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
“We have more drones here at this rotation than a combat training center has ever seen before,” expressed Glonek. “During this exercise, the use of our drones [has] been incredibly effective at finding and attacking the enemy.”
The participation of non-NATO countries during CbR 25-1 underscores the growing importance of partnerships in strengthening collective defense and highlights a shared commitment to regional security.
“This has been a great opportunity to bring them [non-NATO COUNTRIES] into our task force and to fight alongside many of our NATO allies.” said Glonek.
TiC is grounded in one principle: increasing the lethality of our formations by creating more agile and mobile units capable of responding to complex combat scenarios.
“As we plan for how we conduct operations as a brigade, as a TiC unit, that requires us to think differently,” expressed Glonek. “How we’re going to fight and how we’re going to integrate many of these new technologies into our formation.”
