Alaska's 2nd Engineer Brigade, 6th Engineer Battalion form Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson, Alaska, span the Tanana and the Big Delta River in Alaska using bridges made of ice. The Soldiers battled sub zero temperatures and freezing equipment during their operations but forged on with the construction of the two bridges. Available in High Definition.

The Northern Warfare Training Center's Basic Mountaineering Class at Black Rapids, Alaska teaches valuable animal packing and care skills for soldiers preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. Debby Curnow of Fairbanks, owner of Alaska Trailblazers provided four horses and her experience as she guides the class through basic animal care and packing techniques. Animals such as mules and horses have been used by soldiers in Afghanistan's austere and mountainous environments to help carry supplies to troops where vehicles cannot go.

Parachute riggers from the HHC 725th Brigade Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska provide back bone for a recent airborne jump into Big Lake, Alaska. The riggers discuss how their craftsmanship is held to high standards to ensure total safety for all paratroopers.

The 545th Military Police Company of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska experience the less then lethal encounters of the taser as they complete required taser training. All Military Police Officers assigned to the 545th MP Company are required to conduct this training before they carry the tasers on the job. Also available in high definition.

1-52 Aviation BN. from Fort Wainwright, Alaska, assist the National Park Service Mountaineering Rangers with delivering 16,000 pounds of survival and medical equipment as far as 14,000 feet up Mt. Mckinley, the largest mountain in North America. The equipment will be used to set up medical and rescue base camps for mountaineers who plan to climb Mt. One of the most exhausting competitions that Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from U.S. Army Alaska can compete against each other and be recognized as 2011 U.S. Army Alaska (USARAK) Soldier and NCO of the year.
The competition took place at Joint Base Elmendorf - Richardson, Alaska, from April 11-15. The Soldiers competed both physically and mentally through events such as Soldiers tasks and drills lanes, stress shooting competitions, a combat obstacle course, the Army physical fitness test, weapons qualifications, a basic Army knowledge board, day and night land navigation, and many other physically challenging events.
