Dorie E. Heyer currently serves as a public affairs specialist at the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining DLA Distribution, Ms. Heyer served as the chief of Public Affairs at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where she oversaw strategic communications, media relations, community relations and congressional affairs programs. Ms. Heyer first started her tenure at Letterkenny Army Depot as a public affairs specialist in 2019.
Other significant positions include serving as the contracted Director of Photography and Lead Installation Photographer for Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, from 2015 to 2020.
Ms. Heyer obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photographic and Electronic Media from The Maryland Institute College of Art in May of 2019. She is an honors graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Visual Communications in 2012.
Ms. Heyer's awards include the Department of the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal awarded Oct. 18, 2022, the Department of the Army Civilian Service Commendation Medal awarded July 21, 2021, , the Department of the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal awarded Nov. 8, 2021, and the Department of the Army Civilian Service Achievement Medal awarded Dec. 2, 2020. Ms. Heyer was named as a 2021 Spartan of the Year by the York College of Pennsylvania Alumni Association in recognition of being an outstanding York College alumni who has demonstrated dedication, excellence, professional achievement and a commitment for staying engaged with the college post-graduation. Ms. Heyer was awarded first place in the 2020 Army Materiel Command David G. Harris Public Affairs Competition in the News Photo Category. Ms. Heyer has also received multiple Commander's distinctions of excellence during her tenure at Letterkenny and NAVSUP.
