The USS New York (LPD 21), a U.S. Navy ship named to honor the victims of 9/11, features a bow stem made from Ground Zero steel and includes 9/11-themed interior decorations. Navy Week Albuquerque will host a "Doing Business with the DON" workshop on September 13, 2024, featuring Mr. Daniel Mahan and offering various presentations and networking opportunities. Similarly, Navy Week Galveston is set for October 24, 2024, with a workshop that will include Ms. Mercedes Thurston, covering various business topics. In a significant development, the Department of Defense is expanding its Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC), potentially reaching $9 billion over the next ten years. Meanwhile, SBA Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed recently visited Alaska to highlight the record number of small business applications under the Biden-Harris Administration. The Navy Week Albuquerque "Doing Business with the Department of the Navy" Small Business Workshop on September 13 will feature Mr. Daniel Mahan, along with presentations from various small business support organizations, followed by networking opportunities. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced over $1 million in grants to establish new Veterans Business Outreach Centers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Puerto Rico, enhancing resources for veteran entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) continues to support small businesses through its mentor-protégé program, which assists with federal contracting and technical processes. Navy Week Galveston will host its own "Doing Business with the DON" Small Business Workshop on October 24, featuring keynote speaker Ms. Mercedes Thurston. The Maritime Special Operations Forces (MSOFS) 2.0 Pre-Proposal Conference is scheduled for September 10 in Tampa, FL, providing an overview of the solicitation requirements. Following that, the Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium will take place from September 17-19 in Virginia Beach, VA, offering networking opportunities between government and industry. DCAA's Small Business Seminar Series on September 17 in Reston, VA, will provide insights on Department of Defense federal contracts and compliance. On September 18, NAVSEA's Supervisor of Salvage and Diving Industry Day in Virginia Beach, VA, will focus on diving-related services contracts. NAVWAR will host a Situational Awareness Virtual Industry Event on September 25 to discuss NAVWAR programmatic goals and upcoming Requests for Information (RFIs). Finally, the Support Services Industry Day is scheduled for February 4-5, 2025, aiming to enhance collaboration between NAWCWD and industry for Naval Aviation support. Navy Week Albuquerque will host a "Doing Business with the Department of the Navy" Small Business Workshop on September 13, organized by the New Mexico APEX Accelerator, featuring Mr. Daniel Mahan as the keynote speaker. The recent 2024 DON Gold Coast Expo provided valuable networking and educational opportunities for small businesses and government leaders, emphasizing defense contracting prospects. NAVWAR highlighted the importance of small business collaboration at the event to foster innovation and agility, and a photo gallery from the expo is now available. NAVFAC participated in the 19th Annual Hawaii Government Contracting Forum, which focused on federal and local procurement opportunities for small businesses. Additionally, the inaugural Scanner Industry Day showcased advancements in 3D printing and reverse engineering technology, hosted by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division. A proposed rule under the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) aims to integrate Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 into defense contracts, with comments open until October 15, 2024. The Small Business Administration (SBA) has also proposed updates to the HUBZone and small business programs. Join the 2024 Department of the Navy Gold Coast Expo at the San Diego Convention Center from August 19–21. This premier procurement event connects small businesses with government and industry leaders supporting the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense missions. On-site registration opens at 10:00 AM on August 19. Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman of the U.S. Small Business Administration announced zero upfront fees for loans up to $1,000,000 for FY25 under the 7(a) and 504 loan programs. The SBA continues its commitment to expanding access to capital for underserved populations with zero fees for loans of $500,000 or less. The application period for new Small Business Lending Company licenses opens from September 2 to October 15, 2024, and for Community Advantage SBLCs from September 2 to December 20, 2024. Join the Empire APEX Accelerator, Monroe County Finger Lakes APEX Accelerator, and the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development APEX Accelerator for a "Doing Business with the DON" workshop on August 27 in Syracuse, NY, featuring Ms. Chiretta Boclair as the keynote speaker. The Marine Corps Systems Command will also host a hybrid Industry Day on August 22 at 9:30 AM to discuss current and future requirements, with limited in-person attendance. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Keyport will host a virtual Industry Engagement on August 27, focusing on its Contracts Department, including a Q&A session. The 2024 Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium takes place from September 17–19 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, offering keynotes, panels, and networking opportunities. DCAA will host a seminar for small businesses on September 17 in Reston, VA, to discuss DoD federal contracts and audit readiness. The NAVSEA Diving Services Industry Day is scheduled for September 18 in Virginia Beach, VA, supporting the Diving & Diving Related Services follow-on contract. The C-CAP Expo will be held on February 4–5, 2025, in Ridgecrest, CA, to enhance collaboration between NAWCWD and industry partners. A Support Services Industry Day is set for October 9 from 9–11 AM at the Washington Navy Yard, followed by a networking session for prime contractors and small businesses from 12:30–2:30 PM. Online registration for the 2024 DON Gold Coast Expo closes tomorrow, August 9th. The expo, taking place from August 18-21 at the San Diego Convention Center, is a premier event for small businesses to connect with government and industry leaders. On-site registration will begin on August 19th at 10:00 AM, providing an additional opportunity to participate in this important gathering. NAVFAC Hawaii recently hosted its second annual Government Procurement Industry Forum on July 30, which successfully fostered collaboration and offered valuable insights into future projects. Upcoming events include Navy Week Colorado Springs on August 14, featuring a workshop on doing business with the Department of the Navy, with Ms. Anne Bannister as the keynote speaker. A similar workshop is set to occur in Syracuse on August 27, led by Ms. Chiretta Boclair. On August 22, the Marine Corps Systems Command will hold a hybrid Industry Day focused on current and future requirements. The 2024 Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium, scheduled for September 17-19 in Virginia Beach, will provide keynotes and networking opportunities. The 2024 Mentor-Protégé Program Summit, hosted by the DoD Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), was a significant event for networking and partnership building within the defense industry.
