The 492d Special Operations Group commander, Colonel Chris Lang, officiated a ceremony reassigning the 6th Special Operations Squadron at Duke Field, Florida, on Oct. 6, 2022. The ceremony furling the squadron’s flag honored a long history paving the way for a new mission with the 27th Special Operations Group at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, as Air Force Special Operations Command transitions to the force needed for the future.
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jamie Sparks, an aircraft electrical and environmental systems specialist with the 592nd Special Operations Maintenance Squadron, and his wife, Angela, saved the life of an unconscious man in his vehicle, stopped in the road in Niceville, Florida, April 23, 2020.
Chief Master Sgt. Clint Grizzell, 492d Special Operations Wing command chief, presented a professional development seminar, themed, “Bias for Action,” was presented to members of the 6 Special Operations Squadron, Sept. 25, 2020, at the beginning of the squadron’s roll call in the squadron auditorium on Duke Field.
“History makes you smart, heritage makes you proud.”
This idea is what fueled four members of the 492d Special Operations Support Squadron, during a recent, off-duty volunteer event at the Air Commando Association headquarters building in Navarre, FL on July 21st.
For those of us who have never lost a family member in the service of our nation, we cannot fathom the anguish of such a tragedy and the strength it takes to carry on.
Excellence in all we do – this is one of the three core values of the U.S. Air Force.
This core value is also something that Capt. Justina Keithley, 19th Special Operations Squadron U-28 Combat Systems Officer instructor, current operations flight commander, and single mother of two sons, embodies in her daily life.
