The Missouri National Guard has released its fourth episode for Season 3 of "MO Guard TV", a half-hour television program showcasing the efforts of Citizen-Soldiers, Airmen and family members throughout the Show-Me State. The program, which has a news magazine flair, was developed by Maj. Gen. Steve Danner, the Missouri National Guard Adjutant General. His goal for the program is to give the public deeper insight into the National Guard's role at home and abroad.
In this episode, we focus on the Missouri National Guard's role during the historic winter flooding in Eastern Missouri in Dec 2015 and Jan 2016. These stories focus on the towns of Arnold, Commerce, Eureka, Festus, High Ridge, Perryville, Portage Des Sioux, Valley Park, and West Alton. We feature Guardsmen as they protected levees, monitored traffic control points, setup an emergency communications network, and provided safe drinking water to affected communities. We also follow Gen. Frank Grass, Chief of the National Guard Bureau as he visited with Guardsmen who were serving during the floods. And we take a look at the state’s transition to Operation Recovery as efforts began to clean up the damage and debris that the flooding left behind.
