Narration:
Seventeen junior and high school students who live within Zama city visited Zama American middle and high schools in preparation for an upcoming youth exchange program between Zama City and the city of Smyrna, Tennessee. The visit, gets them one step closer toward experiencing what American school life is like before making their visit to their "sister city" this summer.

Hopefully, students are able to experience American School and see a day in a life of American school student before they actually go to Smyrna in August. Also, since both Zama American middle and high schools are within our community, we should be able to gain our understanding through
cultural exchange, learn each other's languages and increase the number of exciting events by interacting proactively with each other. Hopefully, today's event will be a great step towards that.
Narration:
After their arrival, students were welcomed by school officials and met with their assigned host students. Each group then moved on to their respective classrooms to experience classic American subjects with their counterparts. They also experienced lunch "American" style at the school's cafeteria before touring both campuses.

In most Japanese high schools, we don't say hello to friends even if we see each other in a hallway but here at this American school you greet your friends in a very friendly way. So, I was really impressed by that and really liked it.

I realized that there are variety of age ranges in a class based on their aptitude which we don't see in Japanese schools, so it was very impressive to me.

Zama City and Smyrna began their cross-cultural friendship after establishing the "sister city" agreement in 1991.
