There are currently 269 competitors, five active duty divisions, fifteen different
states representing the National Guard and there are two Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) units in the competition.
Each year in March, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit hosts the U.S. Army Small Arms Championships at Fort Benning, Georgia. The 'All Army' is a comprehensive live-fire training event that tests Soldiers ability to employ both primary and secondary weapon systems, problem solve, and think critically under the stresses created by competition.
The competition is open to Soldiers from all components of the force: active duty,
Reserve, National Guard and ROTC cadets. The intent of the competition in arms program is to develop marksmanship skills at the entry and intermediate level, recognize superior skill at the highest levels, while raising the standards of marksmanship and increasing lethality across the entire force.
