The Newtok to Mertarvik Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) relocation project involved service members building homes and establishing infrastructure in a new location for an Alaskan village affected by erosion.
This IRT consisted of service members from the Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve, Marine Forces Reserve, and the Army National Guard.
IRT provides Active, Guard, and Reserve military service members the opportunity to receive training in their career field and also benefit an American community.
