With the conclusion of Exercise Iron Sword 19, paratroopers from 2nd Platoon, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment and our Greek Allies participated in one final joint-force event. The culminating attack had both American and Greek forces assaulting an objective and closing with the enemy together. Greek helicopters provided close air support as both forces bounded through the area clearing buildings and seizing the final objective. Check out the video below to see some of the action. Exercise Iron Sword is a joint training exercise between elements from 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment; 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment; and the 71st Air Mobile Brigade taking place at the Urban Warfare National Training Center in Kilkis, Greece from Nov. 18 to Nov. 26, 2019. The exercise is designed to strengthen interoperability between Greek and U.S. forces and demonstrate the 173rd’s commitment to NATO allies.
