Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater Jayhawk pilots Lt. Cmdr. George Menze and Lt. David McKinley discuss the rescue of four mariners who had been clinging overnight to a capsized boat 30 miles west of Cedar Key, Florida, June 25, 2021. Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received an urgent radio call 7:12 p.m., June 24, from the 20-foot vessel crew reporting their boat was taking on water. After the distress call, the watchstanders lost contact with the mariners, as a heavy thunderstorm moved through the area. Coast Guard air and land assets searched overnight; the Jayhawk crew spotted the mariners the next morning, 12 hours after the initial emergency call. (Video by Petty Officer 3rd Class Erik Villa)
