U.S. Army Garrison Japan celebrated the 20th anniversary of its establishment May 14th on Camp Zama.
The celebration kicked off with remarks from Garrison Commander Colonel Christopher Tomlinson. Then, those in attendance joined together to sing the “Happy Birthday” song to the accompaniment Garrison team member Dr. Monte Powell playing the alto saxophone.

U.S. Army Garrison Japan was activated on May 14th, 2003, replacing the inactivated 17th Area Support Group. The unit fell under the Pacific Region Office of Installation Management Command, and was tasked with providing quality installation services and support to Soldiers, civilians and families, to ensure mission readiness and the well-being of the Army community.
