Indiana National Guard soldiers and airmen, who are slated to deploy to the southwest border in support of Operation Lone Star, learned the basics of the Spanish language during their training at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana, Thursday, March 21, 2024. Faculty from Indiana University guided Guardsmen through elementary Spanish and speaking Spanish in relation to first-aid topics to mitigate any potential issues. Once deployed the Hoosier Guardsmen will assist the Texas Department of Public Safety in protecting the border and nation.
