The Ohio National Guard was established on July 25, 1788, in Marietta, Ohio as the Northwest Territory Militia. Much has changed through service in several wars and armed conflicts in the nearly 240 years since. Uniforms, equipment, training and even the organization’s name have all transformed. But the commitment to the essential mission set forth by the law establishing the Northwest Territory Militia has not — it is the defense and protection of our communities, state and nation. The Ohio National Guard continues to answer the call to support their fellow citizens when needed — Always ready, Always there!
This video was originally produced to celebrate the Ohio National Guard’s 236th birthday in 2024.
