Retired Maj. Gen. Jim Darden speaks during a memorialization ceremony renaming an Army Reserve center in memory of Sgt. 1st Class Alwyn C. Cashe in Sanford, Fla., July 19. Cashe died from injuries sustained when he was rescuing fellow troops from a burning vehicle while he himself was on fire. He has been recommended for the Medal of Honor. Darden presented a proclamation from Florida Governor Rick Scott to the mother of the fallen hero.
