U.S. Air Force Gen. Gary L. North, Pacific Air Forces commander, presents Army Air Corps veteran Ellsworth Jung a U.S. flag that was flown in his honor, Dec. 7, 2011, during the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam remembrance ceremony in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the 1941 Japanese attacks on Hickam Field. Airmen, their families and veterans gathered at Atterbury Circle, the site of the same flagpole that stood Dec. 7, 1941. The ceremony was held to honor the survivors of the attacks and remember the 238 Army Air Corps airmen who died defending Hickam Field.
