Sgt. Maj. Patrick L. Kimble, right, passes the sword of office as sergeant major of Marine Corps Base Camp Smedley D. Butler and Marine Corps Installations Pacific to Maj. Gen. Charles L. Hudson Aug. 23 at a relief ceremony in front of Building 1 headquarters here. The passing of the sword of office symbolizes Kimble’s relief as sergeant major. Kimble, who served as the sergeant major since March 25, 2011, is scheduled to assume duties as sergeant major of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif. Kimble’s replacement will be Sgt. Maj. Robert K. Williamson, who is currently serving as sergeant major of Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.
