Bertha, Minn. native, Capt. Melissa S. Schwarz (left), commander, 623rd Quartermaster Company, 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and Sgt. 1st Class Daniel R. Soper, first sergeant for the 623rd QM Co., who hails from Bad Axe, Mich., case their unit's colors during an inactivation ceremony Aug. 23 at Fort Bragg, N.C. The unit's storied past includes aerial equipment repair and supply for campaigns of World War II, the Vietnam War, Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Riggers from the 623rd QM Co., 11th QM Co. and 647th QM Co. as well as family, friends and veterans who previously served in the unit attended the event.
