Lt. Col. Theodore Shinkle, commander, 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, speaks about the outstanding historical contributions of the 623rd Quartermaster Company during the unit's inactivation ceremony Aug. 23 at Fort Bragg, N.C. The 623rd QM Co. was formed in 1944 and the unit has seen many reactivations and inactivations over the past 69 years. The unit was most recently reactivated at Fort Bragg in 1994. The unit's history includes aerial equipment repair and supply support for campaigns of World War II, the Vietnam War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
