Soldiers at Camp Bondsteel took off running at the start of a 3 km race Aug. 15. The race started a day of celebration for Polish Armed Forces Day, hosted by the Multinational Battle Group-East Polish Contingent. Soldiers were invited to a formal ceremony with a traditional Polish lunch and competitions in tug-of-war and volleyball in the evening. Poland celebrates Polish Armed Forces Day on Aug. 15, which commemorates the anniversary of the 1920 Battle of Warsaw (also known as the "Miracle on the Vistula") and celebrates the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
