For 12 hours Wednesday, approximately 100 Team Tinker airmen and civilians volunteered to stand 30-minute vigils at the flag pole located at the Wright Flyer Memorial Park on base to recognize America’s resolve to remain vigilant against the tyranny of terrorism and remember those who died in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The unprovoked attack killed more people than the deadly assault on Pearl Harbor that brought forth the fury of America’s civilian and military might. Standing guard are Canadian Warrant Officer Jason Verge, 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron; Tech. Sgt. Sabrina McNeal, 373rd Training Squadron, Detachment 9; Tech. Sgt. Ricardo Corriea, 552nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron; and Tech. Sgt. Camecia Parks-McLean, 552nd Maintenance Squadron. Standing behind is Richard Nordstrom, 72nd Air Base Wing, Civil Engineering Emergency Management.
