Thomas Richardson, commanding general, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, talks with Army Reservists assigned to the 840th Transportation Battalion at the Port of Shuaiba, Kuwait, during lunch at the base's dining facility about what they do in their civilian jobs and their impressions of being deployed to the Middle East. SDDC manages 87 percent of the cargo coming out of Afghanistan, with the 595th Transportation Brigade being the critical node in the region.
