Maj. Gen. Thomas Richardson, commanding general, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, passes the 595th Transportation Brigade command flag from Col. Andrew Peters to Col. David Banian during a change of command ceremony for the brigade at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, Sept. 5, 2013. As Banian assumes command of the SDDC brigade, Peters will move on to assume duties as executive officer to Army Materiel Command's deputy to the commander. SDDC manages 87 percent of the cargo coming out of Afghanistan, with the 595th Transportation Brigade being the critical node in the region.
