Armed Forces of Liberia Capt. Roland Murphy addresses AFL soldiers after taking command of the Logistics Command during a change of command ceremony at Edward Binyah Kesselly Barracks, Sept. 17, 2013. Murphy took command from Nigerian Army Lt. Col. Wosiu Bakare, who will remain as an adviser to LOGCOM. As part of the Economic Community of West African States, Bakare commanded LOGCOM for more than a year and a half. In addition to ECOWAS soldiers, U.S. service members deployed with Operation ONWARD LIBERTY are providing mentorship to the AFL to produce a capable, respected force able to protect Liberian interests in the West African region. In addition, the OOL is developing the leadership capabilities of the officers and noncommissioned officers to maintain a professional and credible military force with a reputation as a “force for good” among the Liberian people.
