On May 16, 2013, during a routine perimeter and site check of the Texas Army National Guard's Camp Bowie Training Center, in Brownwood, Texas, the manager briefly stops on a small hill to overlook a portion of the 9,000-acre land. One of four major training centers managed by the Texas Army National Guard, Camp Bowie contains multiple live fire ranges, maneuver space, digital training aides, land navigation courses, roadside bomb and route clearance defeat lanes, as well as classroom space.
