For the last two weeks, Soldiers from the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) collaborated with their counterparts from the 135th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) to better prepare for their mission here in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. More than 150 troops from the 143d ESC arrived at Camp Arifjan Aug. 21 after spending two months in Fort Hood, Texas, to participate in various pre-deployment training missions and exercises. They were greeted immediately by senior leaders from the 135th ESC, an Alabama National Guard headquarters company that deployed to Kuwait five months earlier. In mere hours Soldiers from both units began working side-by-side in their respective sections. The men and women of the 135th ESC continue to train their comrades from the 143d ESC while simultaneously managing sustainment missions in 10 countries throughout the Middle East and North Africa. These missions will soon fall under the command of the 143d ESC later this fall.
