Meyer stated that this was the first time he had worn his boots since those actions took place. Tunnel to Towers, a 5-kilometer run, is held annually in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller. Siller, who ran to the World Trade Center through the Battery Tunnel with all his gear on during the attacks on 9/11, ultimately lost his life during his attempt to save others.
