Staff Sgt. Mickey Steppe, a battlefield weather forecaster, takes a weather reading of a Tactical Meteorological Observing System on Forward Operating Base Mazar-E-Sharif, Afghanistan. The sensor connects to a laptop showing the forecaster real-time weather in their tactical operations center and determines sky conditions, visibility and lightening. Airmen assigned to the 19th Expeditionary Weather Squadron are embedded throughout Afghanistan with Army units. Steppe is deployed from Virginia State Air National Guard Headquarters and a native of Richmond, Va. (U.S. Air Force photo/ Staff Sgt. Stephenie Wade)
