Command Sgt. Maj. James Norman, the senior enlisted leader of I Corps, rewards a Japan Ground Self-Defense Force member with a coin for his effort during the final phase of an exercise that was part of First Sergeant's Training, the equivalent of the Army's Warrior Leadership Course. The JGSDF leadership program has implemented aspects from the American WLC, many of which have come at the suggestion of Norman, who is the former CSM of US Army-Japan, and has mutual relations with senior enlisted leaders throughout Army North.
