Spc. Matthew Gaulke, a Winona, Minn., native, reads the inscription of a challenge coin while Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hill, a Memphis, Tenn., native who serves as the senior enlisted leader for Multi-National Force – Iraq, holds the coin. The coin reads, in part, "For Excellence in Combat." Gaulke, a member of Company C, 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, which is currently attached to 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad, was presented the coin during a ceremony at Combat Outpost Apache, July 26, 2008.
