Approximately 1,500 Soldiers from the Louisiana National Guard 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are staged with their military vehicles at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center near Gonzales, La. The 256th IBCT is scheduled to be escorted by the Louisiana State Police to the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The Morial Convention Center will serve as the main staging area for personnel and equipment preparing for the potential impact of Hurricane Gustav.
