On the evening of Dec. 11, 2013, Adalberto Mejia was driving a taxi with U.S. Air Force Capt. Allen Bear, U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Michael Batres, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. John Fowler and U.S. Army Sgt. Willie Price (pictured) riding as passengers when the men witnessed a vehicle striking a cow that had wandered onto the road. The vehicle flipped upside down and came to rest in a ditch. The five men came to the aid of the driver of the overturned vehicle, pulling him from the wreckage and then loading him into the taxi to transport him to receive medical treatment.
