Army Reserve Maj. Gen. William M. Buckler, Jr., commanding general of 412th Theater Engineer Command, stands with Brig. Gen. Miyako Schanely during the latter's Reaffirmation of Oath ceremony held at Fort Drum today. Schanely, who serves as deputy commander for 412th TEC in Vicksburg, Miss., and works for the State University of New York in a civilian capacity, is the first Japanese-American and first female Engineer in the Army Reserve and second in the Army to be promoted to General Officer.
