Maj. Mike Van Wyk, a C-130 pilot with the Blue Angels, teaches Marines and local media about the C-130T Hercules, affectionately known as “Fat Albert”. Van Wyk is one of three pilots on the “Fat Albert” crew. “This airplane itself was born in 1991, so it’s relatively young for an airplane,” said Van Wyk, a native of Orland Park, Ill. “I flew a C-130 when I first got to training that had been flown in the Vietnam War in 1966 and I had gone through that training in 2005.”
