Warrant Officer Candidates of Class 13-001 present their class song June 22, 2013, at the Fort Pickett-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute in front of Warrant Officer Candidate School cadre, senior leaders from the RTI, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Phyllis J. Wilson, command chief warrant officer of the U.S. Army Reserve, and Chief Warrant Officer 5 William D. Lyles, Virginia Guard command chief warrant officer. The Virginia National Guard’s Fort Pickett-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute has been awarded a certificate of accreditation for an “Institute of Excellence” status by U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command according to a letter dated Jan. 23, 2014, from the TRADOC commanding general. The schoolhouse underwent a thorough accreditation process that evaluated both the RTI facility and the staff, and earned an overall score of 98 percent, marking it as one of the best U.S. Army learning centers in the nation. The RTI consists of the RTI Headquarters and three battalions. First Battalion conducts infantry training, including the infantryman military occupational specialty qualification course, Light Leaders Course and rappel master, while 2nd Battalion conducts the 88M Motor Transport Operator Course.
